We want our congregation to know the people who help care for and serve our church — not simply recognize their names.

Keep it simple. About 60–90 seconds. Personal, conversational, and a little fun if it fits you.

The simple structure

Introduce yourself

Tell us your name, whether you serve as an elder or deacon, and give us a quick glimpse of your family.

“My name is Mike. I’m one of the elders here at Clear Creek. My wife, Sarah, and I have three kids — two of whom still willingly admit they know us.”

How did Clear Creek become home?

In a few sentences, tell us how your family came to Clear Creek and what made you realize, This is our church.

  • Someone invited you.
  • You came through the school.
  • You moved to Bloomington and were looking for a church.
  • Your kids connected here.
  • Someone cared for your family during a hard season.
  • You have been here so long you barely remember arriving.
“We first came when our kids were young. Pretty quickly, people knew our names, cared about our kids, and Clear Creek stopped being the church we attended and became our church home.”

How do you serve the congregation?

Tell us where you serve, but more importantly, help people understand how you hope to care for them.

“One of the things I love about serving as an elder is getting to pray with people and walk alongside families through important seasons of life.”
“I help with our facilities team, which mostly means trying to make sure the building works without anyone having to think about why it works.”

Hi, I’m [NAME], and I serve as one of our [elders/deacons] here at Clear Creek. My wife, [NAME], and I have [brief family detail].

Our family came to Clear Creek [brief story of how you arrived]. What really made this place home for us was [one meaningful detail, relationship, experience, or memory].

These days, I serve the congregation by [area of service]. What I especially love about that is [why it matters / how you hope it serves people].

So if we haven’t met yet, please introduce yourself. One of the best parts of serving this church is actually getting to know the people who call Clear Creek home.

A few guidelines

60–90 seconds Enough time to be personal without becoming an announcement.
One story You do not need to give your entire Clear Creek résumé.
Use normal language Sound like you would if someone met you in the lobby.
Personality is welcome A little humor is great when it naturally sounds like you.
